As I walk this journey of life, I've often found myself questioning why trials seem to befall me while others around me appear to lead relatively peaceful lives. There have been countless moments when I've asked, "Why me, Lord? Why must I endure these trials when it seems like others are living carefree lives?" It's easy to fall into the trap of envy and doubt. It's a struggle we all face at some point, and I find comfort and guidance in the Bible. Let me share with you the things I remind myself when I fall into this mentality:

Remember God's Sovereignty In those moments of doubt, I turn to Proverbs 16:9 (NIV), which says, "In their hearts, humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps." I am reminded that God is sovereign, and He has a unique path for each of us. My trials are part of His divine plan for my life.

Learn from the Scriptures The Bible is filled with stories of individuals who faced trials and tribulations. Job, for example, endured immense suffering, yet his faith remained steadfast. Also, when I look at Jesus life, I often reflect on why I shouldn't have trials when even Jesus Himself was heavily tried when He was here on earth. What makes me so special that I should be excluded from trials? As I read about these biblical figures, I find inspiration and a sense of solidarity, knowing I am not alone in my struggles and that even the heroes of faith had trials they had to overcome.

Embrace God's Purpose Like the Apostle Paul, I've pleaded with the Lord to remove the challenges I face, only to hear His response: "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness" (2 Corinthians 12:9, NIV). Trials can be a means through which God's strength and grace are revealed in our lives. I've even come to understand that God's plan for my life may include trials for a purpose I may not yet grasp.

Strengthened through trials Romans 5:3-4 (NIV) says, "We also glory in our sufferings because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope." Trials can shape our character, deepen our faith, and prepare us for greater things. When I face challenges, I remind myself of 1 Peter 1:7 (NIV), which likens our faith to "gold...tested by fire." Trials are9 like the refining fire that purifies our faith, making it stronger and more resilient.

Finding Strength in Prayer The most important of all, I find strength in prayer; that quiet time with my Lord. It is in prayer that I ask Him to be with me in difficult times. It is where I draw strength to whatever trials that come. When I question why I face trials while others seem exempt, I turn to James 1:5 (NIV), which encourages us to seek God's wisdom: "If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God... and it will be given to you." Through prayer, I seek understanding and peace.

When adversity strikes, it's easy to ask, "Why me? Why must I go through this?" But I've learned that such questioning can lead to despair. Instead, I've started to ask, "Why not me?". I've learned to ask, "What can I learn from this?" and "How can I draw nearer to God in my trials?" Remember that God's ways are beyond our comprehension, and His plan is perfect. As I navigate my trials, I hold onto the assurance that He is always with me, guiding me through the storms and the sunshine. My prayer is that you will hold onto the same assurance of salvation that God has offered to each believing soul!
